HOW TO GET TO WEDA RESORT?

Weda Resort is situated on the East coast of Central Halmahera in North Maluku, Indonesia. On the map below you will find us exactly between North Sulawesi and Raja Ampat, Papua.

The nearest airport, Ternate (TTE) has daily flights from Manado, Ujung Pandang (Makassar), and even two direct, non-stop flights from Jakarta. Ternate also has connecting flights to Ambon and other places in East Indonesia.

Transfer from Ternate Airport to Weda Eco Resort takes in total about 4 hours, first a small drive over Ternate Island, then a speedboat journey of 45 minutes followed by a drive through primary forest, past traditional villages, and with breathtaking views of volcanoes, lakes and rivers. You can stop whenever and as often you want to watch the scenery, to spot Parrots and Hornbills or to have a picnic on the beach.

Kao (code KAZ) on Halmahera. Wings started this service again. The trip from Kao airport leads along a very good and scenic road. Travel time to Weda Resort 4 hours, through primary forest, past traditional villages, and with breathtaking views of volcanoes, lakes and rivers. You can stop whenever and as often you want to watch the scenery, to spot Parrots and Hornbills or to have a picnic on the beach.

For 2020 there should be direct flights from Manado to Lelilef and return. This airport is only at a 30 minutes distance from Weda Resort. Details still unknown however.

DIVING & FLYING

The DAN guidelines for flying after diving are:
For a single no-decompression dive, a minimum pre-flight surface interval of 12-hours is suggested. For multiple dives per day or multiple days of diving, a minimum pre-flight surface interval of 18-hours is suggested. For dives requiring decompression stops, there is little evidence on which to base a recommendation. A pre-flight surface interval substantially longer than 18 hours appears prudent.
